Areas Currently Under Alert for Potential Evacuation - Lifted

Effective July 12, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.

The evacuation alert that has been in place for the areas: west of Range Rd. 154, north of Highway 697 to south of Township Rd. 1050, including the La Crete Ferry Campground and the area west of Range Rd. 151, north of Township Rd. 1050, south of Township Rd. 1070 including the Hamlet of La Crete has been lifted.  There is no longer an evacuation alert in place for any area of Mackenzie County.

The fire remains in close proximity to our communities, and days of active fire behaviour are expected to occure throughout the summer.  Smoke will continue to be visible, and depending on weather conditions, may cause reduced visibility on highways.  Continue to remain vigilant should the situation change.

We urge you to continue to give firefighters, heavy equipment and aircraft room to do their job.  They will continue to work on this fire for months to come, and allowing them to do their job ensures everyone's ongoing safety.

What is an Evacuation Alert?

An evacuation alert is simply a notification to residents to allow you to prepare for a potential evacuation.  You are not required to evacuate at this time.

How to Prepare - get ready by fueling your vehicle, gathering supplies including important documents, food and water, medication, blankets, sleeping bags, personal items, identification, pets, etc.
