Appointments

All appointments will be made by County Council. Members-at-Large, appointed to council committees, are paid a per diem according to the current Honorarium and Expense bylaw unless otherwise specified.

Eligibility

To be eligible for appointment as a Public Member-at-Large applicants must be 18 years of age, Canadian citizens or landed immigrants, residents of Mackenzie County for six consecutive months immediately prior to application submission or not otherwise ineligible. Must be able to attend daytime meetings.

Current Available Positions

 

The Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB) hears appeals about land use decisions made by Mackenzie County development or subdivision authority. It ensures fairness, transparency, and legal compliance in local planning matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Attend hearings – Board meets as required
  • Completion of training required by the Municipal Government Act (MGA)
  • Make decisions on appeals related to refused or conditionally approved development permits, denied or modified subdivision applications and stop works orders.
  • Conduct impartial hearings where property owners, developers, and neighbors can present their case.
