The primary location for this position will be in Fort Vermilion, however the individual may be required to work in other areas of the municipality as per operational requirements. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Scheduling and administrative support to the Director of Finance;
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of agenda packages;
- Maintain correspondence, lists and other documents relating to the Finance Department;
- Assist with Finance Department advertising;
- Filing documents in accordance with the Records Management Policy;
- Provide support and assistance to the Taxation department, Utilities department, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable;
- Grant writing and research;
- Draft letters and agreements;
- Time management skills’
- Transcribe minutes;
- Other duties as required.
Requirements for this position are:
- 2-3 years related experience in an administrative position considered an asset;
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs;
- Attention to detail, accuracy and professionalism;
- Knowledge of office administration procedures;
- Effective interpersonal and organization skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision;
- A valid class 5 driver’s license;

Reporting to the Director of Legislative and Support Services, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Front counter coverage and customer service;
- Responding to inquiries and/or complaints in a professional and tactful manner;
- Distribution of County related mail;
- Verifying accuracy of daily bank deposits;
- Conducting and verifying that accurate receipts are completed for payments;
- Recording of receipts in General Ledger;
- Completion of water and sewer connection and disconnection forms;
- Ordering and maintaining office supply inventory;

Requirements for this position are:
- Post-Secondary Degree in a related field (i.e. Office Administration Certificate)
- 2-3 years related experience in an administrative position;

Mackenzie County is currently inviting applications for an Equipment Operator position. The primary location for this position will be in La Crete, however the individual may be required to work in other areas of the municipality as per operational requirements. This is a full-time unionized position with a 40 hour work week (8 hours per day) Monday to Friday.
Reporting to the Public Works Supervisor (South), the successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Manual labour (i.e. shoveling snow/dirt);
- Maintenance and repair of signs, culverts, etc.;
- Snow removal, manual and equipment;
- The safe operation and minor maintenance of County equipment;
- Assisting with crack-filling; pavement patching;
- Some weekend or holiday work required; (Saturday & Sunday)
- Other duties as required.
Requirements for this position are:
- Valid Class 5 drivers’ license; Class 1 or 3 an asset;
- Two to three years’ experience operating equipment (i.e. loader, backhoe, tractor, skid steer, & lawn mower);
- Moderate physical strength and stamina;
- Mechanical knowledge of equipment would be an asset;
- Knowledge of road maintenance;
- Adequate verbal and written communication skills;
- Evidence of successfully passing a police Criminal Record Check.

Mackenzie County is currently inviting applications for a Finance Clerk position. The location for this position will be in Fort Vermilion. The primary location for this position will be in Fort Vermilion, however, the individual may be required to work in other areas of the municipality as per operational requirements. This is a full-time unionized position with a 40 hour work week (8 hours per day) Monday to Friday.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Enter budget data into the budgeting software and capital budget reports for operation departments.
- Prepare and distribute monthly operating budget and capital budget reports for operating departments.
- Record the credit card and other monthly account transactions and prepare journal entry, and invoices for submission to the Director of Finance for review.
- Regularly enter invoices and other project data in the project costing spreadsheet and regularly reconcile it to the general ledger. Verify all documentation required as received.
- Assist in preparation of the project reports to granting agencies as required.
- Prepare GST return monthly/quarterly for review and submission by the Finance Controller.
- Record and prepare report for Bursary applications, documentation requirements, and awarding including but not limited to payment or reimbursement requests.
- Work with the Finance team on cross training, and team projects.
- Other Administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements for this position are:
- Office Administration Diploma or combination of equivalent training and experience is an asset;
- 2 years accounting experience is an asset;
- Knowledge of Great Plains Dynamics Accounting Program is an asset;
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word;
- Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
- Effective interpersonal and organizational skills,
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism, and maintain a high degree of confidentiality;

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Manual labour (i.e. shoveling snow/dirt);
- Maintenance and repair of signs, culverts, bridge washing etc.;
- Assisting with crack-filling, pavement patching, etc.;
- Operate snow/plow truck, grader, lawn mowing equipment, back hoe, misc. equipment as required;
- Minor grader maintenance including changing blades;
- Document the maintenance of roads, establish task priorities and prepare monthly reports to the Director of Operations;
- Review maintenance procedures regularly;
- Ensure maintenance and construction projects are completed in a timely manner while meeting the County’s standards and specifications;
- Assist in the preparation of the roads maintenance budget;
- Daily supervision of road maintenance staff and contractors;
- Assist other departments and external organizations as directed by the Director of Operations;
- Some weekend or holiday work required (Saturday & Sunday);
- Other duties as required.
Requirements for this position are:
- Three to five years related experience;
- Minimum two years supervisory experience;
- Heavy Equipment Operator Experience;
- Ability to provide supervision to staff and contractors;
- Ability to work under minimal supervision;
- Ability to provide effective interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Proven organizational and time management skills;
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s License;
- Evidence of successfully passing a police Criminal Record Check.
Salary Range: $100,000 – $114,869 per annum. Mackenzie County offers a Comprehensive Benefit Package including isolation pay.
