Notice to Public – La Crete Stage 1 Water Restrictions

Mackenzie County is advising residents that a Stage 1 Water Restriction is now in place for the Hamlet of La Crete each year from May 1 to September 30. The implementation of annual restrictions is normal measure for many locations in Alberta and Canada.

The measure was put in place for multiple reasons, including increasing the lifespan of the water distribution infrastructure, saves ratepayers from costly upgrades, as well as addressing data that shows that the average person in La Crete uses more water per day than the average Canadian, making conservation especially important for long‑term system stability.

These measures also support environmental protection and helps secure a dependable water supply for future generations.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed and follow the guidelines throughout the summer season.

What’s Allowed Under Stage 1 Restrictions

  • Hand watering gardens anytime(with a watering can or a hose with a trigger nozzle)
  • Sprinklers, kids’ water toys, and small pools (under 1,000 L) may be used for recreation, only while children are present.
