Proper water and sewer installations are crucial in the protection of public health and well being. All connections to water and/or sewer systems must be installed according to County Design Standards as well as Federal and Provincial standards and codes. An installation application must be completed and approved by the County prior to connecting to municipal services. The application may be required in conjunction with Development and Safety Code Permits.
Requests
Applications to connect to municipal water and sewer systems shall be submitted by completing the Application for Water & Sewer Installation form. The installation of utilities can occur between May 1st and October 31st of each calendar year. Any variance to the mentioned dates shall be at the discretion of the CAO or Designate as per the Water and Sewer Bylaw.
Inspections
Any new connections MUST be inspected by a County employee. Failure to do so shall result in a demand to excavate and expose the connection for inspection by the County. Uncovering the water or sewer system shall be at the sole expense of the contractor or property owner. Covering a water or sewer system prior to inspection will result in fines as per the Fee Schedule Bylaw. The County requires a minimum of 24 hours notice for all inspection requests.
